My dad’s three favorite things are physics, chess, and Star Trek. I don’t know enough physics to build a particle collider so I decided to combine the latter two into a birthday present — the 3D chess set Captain Whatever uses in Season Something. And instead of buying the $300 collector’s item I made my own with a total BOM cost of twenty bucks.
